...And the worst mother of the year award goes too... ME! And it's still January! So, I was peeling potatoes in the sink the other day, and Ari wanted to help me. I put her up on top of the counter and let her 'wash' the potatoes. Brad walked into the kitchen, so I turned to put the potatoes on the cutting board (thinking she would be fine). Literally, ONE second later I heard this load thud, and my daughter was on the floor. This picture was taken four days later, because I didn't want anybody to report me to the authorities under 'Child Endangerment'. She had the biggest goose egg right in the middle of her forehead, and it bruised immediately. You can still see a little bit of bruising around the corners and under her eyes! I was sick to my stomach when it happened. I feel so bad!
If you look closely you can see remnants of tears on her eyelashes. I moved her hair to take the picture and touched the bump. Poor child is doomed!

oh no! don't be so hard on yourself! we all make mistakes! why do you think pencils were born with erasers??? :)
i think it looks better than you described it.
doesn't look so bad, and the worst mother of the year has gone to me consistantly, hopefully the emotional scars that I left on your poor cousins will only make them stronger. :) thanks for telling me about your blog. I'll have fun reading your back posts.
Aunty Dee
ps. Uncle Hina and I will be in hawaii for the next 7 days then I will check back in on your blog.
I think you should know that Child Social Services is on their way. yep, I just got off the phone! Just kidding. I have done much worse..on accident of course. But, it still makes you feel so bad when it happens! It is amazing how durable they are! My poor Alex is so accident prone it is amazing that he has only broken his collar bone!!
my son consistently has a goose egg somewhere on his face and i haven't had someone come knock on my door...yet. i've learned that the mouth, eye, or any head wound bleeds profusely but is usually not very serious. just a little tid bit for the future. :) this one comes in handy with my little boy. or else we would be in the emergency room alot!
Mel, I just love Ari!! She is so cute. I think we have all experienced some kind of accident with our kids or you're not normal. You and Brad are good parents.
